1a) Games shall be as follows: PAIRS – 16 ends or 2 sets + extra end TRIPLES – 14 ends FOURS – 16 ends
b) All league games shall finish at the end the scheduled session. A penultimate buzzer shall sound approximately 7 minutes before the end of the scheduled session; no jacks are to be cast after this buzzer. For any jack in motion the end shall be played.
2) The skips shall toss a coin before the start of play, and the winner shall have the choice of sending the Jack and first bowl or allow the opposition to send the Jack and first bowl.
3а) All league games shall be straight off, no trial ends.
3b) In all league games. During normal play, any jack driven out of the confines of the rink shall be re-spotted, rather than the end being replayed.
4) A team shall fulfil all their fixtures in order to win the respective league.
5) All cancelled league games shall be re-arranged within 4 weeks of the original fixture date, the onus being on the team who cancelled to offer a new. date for the game to be played. Any rearranged game must be completed before the date of the AGM at the end of the season… Failure so do this should result in both teams having 2 points and 5 shots deducted from their total league position.
6) Jacks shall be cast prior to the start signal provided both skips agree and the rink is available. No woods shall be cast prior to the start signal.
7) Rinks are allocated for the league games, the rinks allocated are subject to change for competitions, at the discretion of the Bowls Manager.
8) Scoring- Wednesday night pairs – 2 points per set and 1 point for the extra end All other leagues – 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
League winners shall be the team with the highest number of points at the completion of the league programme. If 2 teams are equal then shot difference shall decide the winner, if still equal then the 2 games between the respective teams shall decide the winner.
9a) A game shall be considered postponed if neither team appear. Rule 5 shall then apply. South Forest reception shall be informed of postponements prior to the start time.
9b) In the event that one team fails to appear for the fixture, with no notification to the opposition, then the match points shall be awarded to the team who appeared and also 5 shots.
10) Registering of players. Maximum players per league squad: PAIRS – 6 players, TRIPLES – 8 players, FOURS – 8 players.
11) Each player shall be a member of South Forest I.B.C. and registered with a team in the relevant league before playing in a league match.
12) A player shall not be registered with more than one team in each league. Once a player has played for a team they shall not transfer their registration to another team in the same league.
13) No substitute shall be allowed without prior approval of both skips. Any substitute is not allowed to skip.
14) In a mixed league at least 1 gent and 1 lady shall be taking part at all times.
15) In all cases each player shall bowl 2 bowls in the 4s league, 3 bowls in the triples league, and 4 bowls in the pairs league.
16) A team with less than the required number of players at the scheduled starting time shall start the game, making up the rink as players become available. The skip shall decide the vacant positions. As players become available they should fill the vacant positions. They shall not skip.
17) A player arriving late shall only join the rink after the end being played is completed. Where a team decides to play with a player short, but decides to play with extra bowls, 1 extra bowl each for lead and No 2, shall at the end of the game, lose 25% of the shots they have scored.
18) Skips shall not be allowed to visit the head in a two hour game, with the exception of Wednesday night pairs.
19) If the lights go out the score shall stand provided that a minimum of 10 ends have been completed. If less than 10 ends have been completed, the game shall be replayed.
20) The club committee shall be the sole authority for settling disputes. Any dispute or complaint shall be registered with the secretary within 48 hours and then confirmed in writing.
21) All other matters E.I.B.A. rules shall apply. (with the exception of Friday morning league where players should change positions during the game)
22) Any point not covered shall be dealt with by the Committee.
Club Competition Rules
1) Club competitions are:-
Open Singles Club Singles – men and women Pairs – men and women Triples – men and women Fours – men and women Mixed pairs Mixed Fours – 2 ladies and 2 men Autumn open drawn triples Brocklehurst – open drawn triples Memorial Trophy – open triples
2) The draws shall take place in November each year and posted on the notice board.
3) Play by dates shall be clearly shown.
4) Extensions to play / by date shall not be allowed. This shall be monitored by the Committee and defaulting entrants shall be eliminated from the competition.
5) Holidays shall not be a reason for an extension of a closing date
6) The players starting the first game shall constitute the pairs / triples / fours. In pairs / triples / fours one additional player may be used as a substitute provided that person has not already played in the competition or been named in the draw for another team. In Mixed Fours one female and / or one male may be used as a substitute. Substitutes may play in any position.
7) For the booking of rinks, only Club singles (men / ladies), not the Open singles, shall take precedence over league games.
8) The challenger shall offer 2 dates within at least 4 days of the opening of the round. Failure to offer the dates within 4 days of the opening of the round shall result in the away person / persons becoming the challengers and shall offer 2 dates within the next 4 days. The Committee should be made aware of this situation.
9) The first date offered shall be at least 3 days hence of sooner by mutual agreement.
10) Another date shall be offered if a date is given when an opponents is playing National and County competition, as they have priority.
11) A minimum of 3 hours rink time shall be booked for all singles competitions.
12) In the club singles the winner shall be the first to 21 shots. 2 trial ends are allowed and also visiting the head (As this leads to a National competition)
13) In all competitions, except the Singles and Open Singles, re-spotting will happen. There will be no dead ends. (AGM 2018/19)
14) In the Open singles, the winner shall be the first to 21 shots. No trials are allowed and only 1 visit to the head per end per player. An end killed is re-played. No exception to this rule. (AGM 2019)
15) Pairs and Fours games shall be played over 2 hours or 16 ends, whichever comes first. The Club Final shall be 18 ends with re-spotting.
16) A triples game shall be played over 2 hours or 14 ends, whichever comes first. The Club Final shall be 18 ends with re-spotting.
17) No trial ends are allowed in the Open singles, pairs, triples or fours club competitions.
18) Skips shall not be allowed to visit the head in a 2 hours game but may in the Finals.
19) When the scores finish level, the team who has scored the most ends shall win the game. If the winning ends are equal the team who won the first end shall win the game.
20) Players shall toss a coin for the right to cast the Jack or allow the opposition to cast the Jack.
21) With the exception of the above all competitions shall be played to E.I.B.A. rules.
22) Anything not covered in the above rules shall be dealt with by the competition secretary in conjunction with the committee where necessary.
